Amazon Sells More Ebooks Than Hardcover Books!

I remember when I first started writing and selling ebooks over 5 years ago. Just about everyone thought I was crazy.

My family said, “Oh boy…here he go again”.

Associates said, “That’s nice” through fake smiles. My friends said, “That seems cool, but I don’t think anything can replace the feel of having a book in my hands”.

That was their way of saying, “I Ain’t buying no EBOOK from you”. And many of them didn’t.

Even when I had my breakthrough with my ebook ‘Conversations With Black Millionaire Entrepreneurs’ it was still tough to get interviews on radio.

Even while I was on Radio One, XM satellite radio and dozens of other radio stations across the country and the Internet I kept trying to plant the seed of the power of ebooks and reports.

Of course the content of the ‘Conversations’ I had with Cathy Hughes, George Fraser, Dennis Kimbro and others was and is phenomenal. In fact, I get emails all the time telling me how the interviews have changed someone’s life.

But the point that I wanted to drive home is that thousands of people have downloaded my ebook and reports from all over the world, the U.K., South Africa, The Isles of The Pacific, Barbados, The Bahamas, and just about every State in the U.S.A.

Talk about major distribution.

So this past Monday I received numerous emails and calls when Amazon, one of the nation’s largest booksellers, announced that for the last three months, they sold more ebooks than of hardcover books.

In that time, Amazon said, it sold 143 ebooks for every 100 hardcover books.

The pace of change is quickening, too, Amazon said, in the last four weeks sales rose to 180 digital books for every 100 hardcover copies.

The CEO of Amazon Jeff Bezos said the shift at Amazon is “astonishing when you consider that we’ve been selling hardcover books for 15 years, and Kindle ebooks for 33 months.”

According to the Association of American Publishers in conjunction with the International Digital Publishing Forum ebook sales were $29,300,000 for May, a 260% increase over May 2009 ($11,200,000).

Can you say, $29 Million dollars and sales are doubling and tripling almost every month.

So that is why I say every entrepreneur or business should have ebooks or reports as a part of their business. Even if it is just to pre-sell another product or service.

What better way to get your message out and brand yourself as an expert in your industry.

Of course I want to hear your comment or feedback below.

  1. You impress me and I believe this information will help me tremendously. All that is missing – and I hope it is in the book – is how to put this on a website/blog/whatever and collect money for the ebooks I will produce.
