Even If You Can’t Write, You Can Still Make Money With Ebooks!

I have received several emails from people telling me how they have been writing their ebooks for months, some are taking years.

Some are using their apparent inability to write the next ‘best-seller’ as an excuse not to start their online business.

Well, I have a news flash for you. If you think that writing 1 ebook and it is going to automatically make you a million dollars, I have a piece of Real Estate on the East side of Detroit I want to sell you.

Now, I’m not saying that you should give up writing your first ebook, in fact I’m saying Hurry Up and write it!

I’m also saying that your success online will be determined by the body of work you put together. And that may include multiple ebooks and other types of digital products.

And there is a learning curve that has to take place before you feel comfortable with putting out you own ‘Cash-Producing’ ebooks.

I have mentioned that affiliate marketing is the fastest and easiest way to make money online and most people who consider trying to make money on the Internet end up gravitating toward affiliate marketing.

Affiliate Marketing is a great way to generate income online, but if you want a long term business you’ll need your own products that you control and sell.

Long Term Business

That’s why writing your own ebooks are so attractive, because of the control you have. You’re building a business based on your own brand.

The downside of writing your own ebook(s) is what I mentioned earlier, you procrastinate in writing it, you don’t know if there is a market for your ebook and you don’t know how to go about finding out.

And again there are just some things that you have to learn in order to market your own ebook effectively; Systems have to be put in place.

That’s why I recommend that people start with selling various types of reprint rights products. You gain product(ebooks) immediately that you can control and sell with many of the materials you’ll need to Systemize the process.

Reprint Rights Products

You’ll typically see three flavors:

  • Private Label Rights (PLR). These products let you pretty much edit/change them however you want (the specific terms vary by product), including putting your name on the product as the creator/author.
  • Resale Rights (RR). These products give you the right to resell them as-is. You can’t change them, or put your name on them as the author, but you can sell them all day long.
  • Master Resale Rights (MRR). These products are like RR products, but you get to pass along the resale rights when you sell them (that might mean just basic resale rights, or the master resale rights as well).

You’ll buy these products outright, meaning you’ll purchase whatever flavor of reprint rights a product carries with it.

A natural question to ask at this point is which type of reprint rights product should you buy (and then sell)? That’s a judgment call, but here’s an overview of the pros and cons of each:

Pros Cons
RR
  • Lets you sell a product without creating it…and you get to keep 100% of the profits
  • Lets you start selling fast
  • Often comes with a package that makes it easy to get set up to sell
  • Somebody else’s name is still on the product
  • You don’t have any control over product content/quality
  • You can’t “personalize” the content in any way
MRR
  • Same as RR
  • Lets you pass along RR or MRR, which increases the perceived value of your product
  • Same as RR
PLR
  • Gets you 90-100% of the way toward a product without any work on your part
  • You get to keep 100% of the profits on your sales
  • Gives you complete flexibility with content and quality
  • Lets you put your name on the product as the authory
  • Can be more expensive
  • Might not include a package to make it easier to sell right away

As you can see, the big benefits of just about any reprint rights product are these:

  • You get to sell a product with only a fraction of the work it takes to create a product on your own
  • You get to keep 100% of the profits (or at least control how you share them)

That’s a very powerful combination. And with PLR, you get to have your own product without doing nearly as much work as you would have to do to create one from scratch.

To summarize, with marketing reprint rights products your risk goes down and your control goes up. You’re also building your own business based on your own brand. That’s a Powerful way to begin your online business.

For the first 5 days of April I’ll be having a very, very special “Spring Offer‘ re-releasing my system on making money with ‘Reprint Rights Products‘ make sure you take a look if you’re interested.

  1. This is a great breakdown of the pros and cons for each resource. I do have to say I like PLR the best and this site I highly recommend charges a little over $1 for each article, it’s worth checking out: http://tinyurl.com/fabPLR

And for those who like to write but need a little guidance, I did a post on the easy way to write short reports instead of long ebooks, which you can check out here http://www.thecurvycoach.com/694

    Hope that helps!

  2. Hey Bro,

I agree reprint right products is a great way to go especially “PLR” rights. Not all “Private Label Rights” products are of good quality you may need to touch it up a bit, and up date the content because things change so much these days. I would also redo the graphics as well brand it with your own style and colors this don’t cost to much if you do a good search on good quality mini-site graphic design. What’s left after setting up your payment systems and getting quality customers to your website. Make sure your are split testing your offer page to see what converts the best.

Once you have a winning offer keep growing your customer base.

Ps: Outsourcing these little task can help you move real fast instead of trying to do everything yourself. I learned a valuable lesson from this. I just now getting started.
